Chevy Silverado 1500 vs. the Competition in Litchfield, IL

Looking for a versatile, well-rounded full-size truck? The new Chevy Silverado 1500 is tough and capable, with a range of muscular engines that are up to any challenge you throw at them in Southwest IL. They also have class-leading cargo bed volume and a spacious cab. The new Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 present stiff competition for the Silverado 1500, but here at Steve Schmitt Chevrolet Buick GMC of Litchfield, we believe the Silverado 1500 beats its rivals in several key areas.

Cargo Bed

One of the main reasons people in Southern IL drive trucks is for their handy cargo box. The new Chevy Silverado 1500 offers a 6.6-foot standard bed, an 8.1-foot long bed, or a 5.8-foot short bed. Carlinville drivers will appreciate that the Silverado 1500 offers best-in-class cargo bed volume.

The new Ford F-150 is available with 8-foot, 6.5-foot, and 5.5-foot beds, though not every bed is offered with every cab style.

The new Ram 1500 only offers cargo box sizes - a 6-foot-4-inch bed or a 5-foot-7-inch bed.

The new Chevy Silverado 1500 offers a multi-function tailgate called "MultiFlex," which has a secondary cutout in the middle that can be folded down to allow more standing space behind the truck. The tailgate also folds down into a step for easier bed access or folds up to prevent longer loads from slipping out the back. People in Hillsboro will like that the Silverado 1500's MultiFlex tailgate has a weatherproof built-in Kicker audio system, a USB port, and an auxiliary input for tailgate parties or impromptu outdoor entertainment.

The new Ford F-150 does not offer a multi-purpose tailgate, although there is an optional power up-and-down feature and a tailgate step.

The new Ram 1500 does offer a 60/40-split multifunction tailgate that can swing down like normal or open outward to the sides like barn doors. However, it's tailgate doesn't come with a built-in audio system, a USB port, or an auxiliary input.

Driver Assistance Features

The new Chevy Silverado 1500 is loaded with standard advanced active safety features for safer driving in Metro East. Staunton drivers will appreciate that each Silverado 1500 trim comes with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver aids, which includes a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist with lane departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams.

The new Ford F-150 only comes standard with a rearview camera, lane departure warning, and forward collision mitigation. You must pay more to have other driver-assist aids in the F-150.

The only standard safety feature in the new Ram 1500 is a rearview camera, although there are many optional driver assistance features.

The new Chevy Silverado 1500 now offers a 13.4-inch horizontally oriented infotainment touchscreen on LT trims and above. People in Litchfield will like that the Silverado 1500's infotainment system has Google voice command technology for sending texts, changing audio sources, and more.

The new Ford F-150's largest available touch screen is just 12.0 inches. It does not offer Google voice command capability.

The new Ram 1500 also has a maximum 12-inch infotainment touch screen and has no voice command feature.
