Cargo Bed
One of the main reasons people in Southern IL drive trucks is for their handy cargo box. The new Chevy Silverado 1500 offers a 6.6-foot standard bed, an 8.1-foot long bed, or a 5.8-foot short bed. Carlinville drivers will appreciate that the Silverado 1500 offers best-in-class cargo bed volume.
The new Ford F-150 is available with 8-foot, 6.5-foot, and 5.5-foot beds, though not every bed is offered with every cab style.
The new Ram 1500 only offers cargo box sizes - a 6-foot-4-inch bed or a 5-foot-7-inch bed.
Tailgate
The new Chevy Silverado 1500 offers a multi-function tailgate called "MultiFlex," which has a secondary cutout in the middle that can be folded down to allow more standing space behind the truck. The tailgate also folds down into a step for easier bed access or folds up to prevent longer loads from slipping out the back. People in Hillsboro will like that the Silverado 1500's MultiFlex tailgate has a weatherproof built-in Kicker audio system, a USB port, and an auxiliary input for tailgate parties or impromptu outdoor entertainment.
The new Ford F-150 does not offer a multi-purpose tailgate, although there is an optional power up-and-down feature and a tailgate step.
The new Ram 1500 does offer a 60/40-split multifunction tailgate that can swing down like normal or open outward to the sides like barn doors. However, it's tailgate doesn't come with a built-in audio system, a USB port, or an auxiliary input.
