Electric and hybrid vehicles are a hot topic these days. From Hillsboro, IL to Staunton, more and more southern IL drivers are considering making the switch to an electric vehicle, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid these days. At Steve Schmitt of Litchfield, we're curious about the future of EV vehicles as much as anyone else, and we're excited to tell you more about an upcoming model that promises to outshine them all - the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV.

With a planned arrival date here in the Litchfield area set for some time in the second half of 2023, we still have to wait awhile before we can meet, test drive, and experience the electric pickup truck in person. But we have picked up a few hints about it in recent months that we can share with you now, to pique your curiosity for this futuristic model.

  1. When it first debuts, the 2024 Silverado EV will be available in the Work Truck (WT) trim level, aimed at helping businesses outfit their fleet with the latest tech and performance. After that, a model that's meant to appeal to everyday drivers will arrive further down the road.
  2. A spring-coil rear suspension underpinning it means this truck will ride smooth on all Metro East roads and regardless of whether it's loaded down with heavy materials or completely empty.
  3. Look for power when you need it most, as this truck is expected to have a wide range of towing capacity numbers, from 8,000 to up to 20,000 pounds.
